The mission ruins at
Quarai and Gran Quivira, two of the four sites at the Salinas Pueblo Missions,
one just to the north of Mountainair and one just a few miles to the south,
date back to the 1600's. These two sites appear completely different in
the color of the stones used, the complexity of the sites themselves, and
the surrounding terrain.
The photographs in this
photo tour were taken in early May of 2006. They highlight historical ruins
at two sites of the Salinas Pueblo Missions. Related links for Salinas
